About Us

Taking into account the demands of Guatemala Muslims, the American Muslim Association, which has been meeting the religious needs of Muslims in North America since 1980 without compromising the line of Ahl as-Sunnah wal jamaat, started its activities in Guatemala City on February 19, 2021. In June 2021, it served 20 male students from different nationalities from different states of Guatemala with the Suleymaniye Madrasa. By developing itself considering the cultural and religious needs of people it aimed to bring the light of Islam to every individual in the Guatemalan lands.

It is a community that aims to show the applicability of Islam to life and to live it rather than being a dry knowledge, without compromising the line of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah, without discriminating between language, race, rich and poor, by paying attention to Halal, by paying attention to the privacy of men and women. By educating the young people who are entrusted to them in every material and spiritual field, they prepare the exemplary Muslims and imams of the future. A community that lives as our Prophet (pbuh) and his companions taught us, is far from innovations, and has adopted the morality of Muhammad (sas) as its motto.

Umag also carries out activities that will allow Muslims living in Guatemala to perform their worship such as, Zakah-Fitrah-Charity, Sacrifice/Udhiyyah, Funeral/Janazah, Wedding, etc.. Umag has a desire for every person to maintain their Allah given purity, honesty, to have high morality, to gain superior qualities, to evolve in their knowledge, to transmit it to humanity and all of our brothers and sisters in any part of the world. UMAG delivers the donations it collects from people with high awareness, to every needy person regardless of culture, race or ethnicity , by giving priority to education. UMAG also keenly controls and monitors its operations on behalf of its donors by expecting all the sensitivities it has from all organizations and partnerships.

OUR VISION

UMAG has two important visions that have contributed to each other in the coming years:

  • To meet the infrastructure and staffing needs that can provide education to all guatemalans who have a demand for education in our service region.
  • To be the best institution that benefits more and more Guatemalans every year.

OUR MISSION

Umag has chosen two main areas of activities: To teach Islamic morals, ethics and faith, to every demanding person without exception, without allowing separation and discrimination. While staying loyal to Ahli-Sunnah. To explain Islamic culture to those who has curiosity about it. The Umag believes that a livable world can only be possible with people who have knowledge and sincere commitment . The umag acts with the principle of “Every person should be raised in a beautiful way to benefit his environment and humanity by living an exemplary life.” In order to raise the future generations with high culture and to a high knowledgeable degree, providing high standard living conditions for our students is our prominent goal. With the qualified human resources created within the body of The UMAG, access to quality education is offered to all humanity, by doing so we are able to reach disadvantaged groups all across the globe.

Our Principles

No activity can be carried out with an attitude, approach and language that will not comply with human dignity and honor. Donations collected for our organization can only be spent within the limits determined by our donors and only for that purpose. In the activities of the association, there is an undeniable responsibility for transparency towards our community and especially our donors.

Donation Policy

The UMAG very keenly manages all donations in the best way possible. All donations are used specifically to what the donor desires. In an unlikely case, should the donor wish to leave the decision in which the proceeds go to, UMAG board of members reserves the right to transfer monies to any organizational event and/or activity. The UMAG board shall use all proceedings to which they believe is best appropriate and suitable for the community.
